Welcome to the ModuleCar project!
What is a ModuleCar?
A ModuleCar is an electric-drive passenger car built entirely from modules. The dictionary defines a module as:
-
A standardized, often interchangeable component of a system or construction that is designed for easy assembly or flexible use.
The modules that make up ModuleCar will have a standardized form-factor, be easily interchangeable, and allow for complete upgradibility and customization. For more details on each module, its specification, and its function, click here.
Our Mission:
-
To create the design specification for an electric-drive car built entirely from modules. And, to offer the design specification free to any company or individual so that they may construct and sell the modules that make up the car.
When we say that the design specification is "free" it means more than just that it is available at no cost. It means that the specification of the design is fully open to the public to be used for any purpose (the ModuleCar project reserves the right to set the ModuleCar specification and certify compliance), and that neither the ModuleCar design nor any of the implemented reference prototypes are covered by any known patent. It is the first truly open and free car specification!
